Subjects at Clandon
At Clandon, each subject is carefully planned and taught in its own right, with clear progression of knowledge and skills as children move through the school. We follow the National Curriculum, enriching it with thoughtful experiences that bring learning to life. We want children to enjoy learning, to be curious about the world around them, and to leave us with strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, alongside a broad and balanced understanding of the wider curriculum.
Our teaching blends well-sequenced subject knowledge with creativity and rich experiences. Children learn through practical work, discussion, outdoor learning and carefully chosen opportunities that make learning meaningful and memorable. We place great value on the arts, learning beyond the classroom and developing a deep connection with the natural world.
Across all subjects, we nurture the skills and attitudes children need to thrive - collaboration, creativity, communication and thoughtful problem-solving. As a church school, our curriculum is rooted in our Christian values – particularly kindness – and we aim to develop confident, reflective learners who are proud of their achievements and respectful of others.
