Art at Clandon
At Clandon, we believe that art is for everyone. Our art curriculum is designed to build confidence, creativity and a love of making from the very earliest years. Children are supported to develop strong foundations in drawing, painting, sculpture, printing and collage, while being encouraged to explore, experiment and express their own ideas.
We take a hands-on, practical approach, helping children to master simple techniques first – how to hold tools, mix colours, create texture and shape materials – before gradually building towards more refined skills and personal style as they move through the school. This steady progression means children experience success, develop pride in their work and grow in confidence as artists.
Art at Clandon is closely connected to the world around us. Children work with natural materials, explore the textures and colours of our environment, and are introduced to artists and traditions that inspire curiosity and imagination. Through carefully planned projects, whole-school Art Weeks and creative opportunities across the year, pupils learn that art can tell stories, express feelings, celebrate culture and help us see the world differently.
Above all, we want our children to see themselves as artists – to feel proud of what they create, to take pleasure in the process, and to carry with them a lifelong enjoyment of creativity.
