Rabbit Class (YrR/Yr1)
Welcome to Rabbit Class 2022-2023
Children in Reception and Year 1 need freedom to learn predominantly through play. In Rabbit Class learning is child focused and play based. This positively promotes the way children naturally learn, enabling each child to develop a solid foundation for their education.

Morning Routine: Families enter through the woodland gate and school staff greet children in the playground by the gate to the Rabbit Class play area. Children come in to the classroom and hang up their coats and bookbags.
Things your child needs to bring: Your child needs a bookbag, pencil case and a named, refillable water bottle filled with water from home (PLEASE, NO SQUASH OR JUICE). All children need a warm, waterproof coat in school each day and should wear their school uniform unless it is Forest School day - see below.
PE Days: Rabbit Class PE lessons are on Fridays. Children need their PE kit in school at all times: shorts, t-shirt and plimsolls. For cold weather children need jogging bottoms, sweatshirt and trainers.
Forest School: Rabbit Class Forest School sessions are on Tuesday afternoons. Children come to school dressed in their Forest School kit:
- Tracksuit bottoms
- Long sleeved top and a jumper
- Warm, waterproof coat and trousers
- Warm socks and wellies
Illness: Please phone the school office on 01483 222442 to let us know if your child won't be attending school for any reason. Please don't send your child to school if they're generally unwell, for example with a temperature or sickness or diarrhoea. School office staff will ask you about the symptoms of your child's illness to see if there is a pattern with other children in school with similar symptoms.
To help your child get the most out of school and avoid spreading infection to others, please don't send them back to school until they've been well for 24 hours. If your child has vomited or had diarrhoea they must stay away from school until 48 hours after the last bout of illness.
End of the Day: If your child is being collected from school by someone other than their parent or regular carer, please let a member of school staff know. You can do this either in person or by phoning the school office, or writing a note. If someone other than a parent will regularly collect your child from school, please let us know in writing and we will make a note of the arrangement.
