Clandon C of E School A caring community where all can THRIVE

Badger Class (Year 1 and Year 2)

    Welcome to Badger Class 2018-19

    Staff

    • Mrs Saunders: Class Teacher
    • Mrs Habgood: Teaching Assistant (mornings)
    • Miss Blackmore: Teaching Assistant
    • Mrs Fraser and Miss Ralph: Teaching Assistant (afternoons)

Morning Routine: Please help your child to develop independence coming into school. Parents can help promote this by saying goodbye to their child at the gate outside the classroom.  Children then come in to school by themselves where they put away their own coats and bookbags, fill their water bottle for the day, and change their own reading book. They are then able to get on with their early work, ready for the register at 9.00am.

Illness:  If your child is ill please phone the school office early on the first morning of their absence.  It is helpful if you can let us know the symptoms of your child's illness.  To help your child to get the most out of their time at school and avoid spreading infection to other children, please do not send them back to school until they have been well for 24 hours. If your child has vomited or had diarrhoea they must stay away from school until 48 hours after the last bout of illness.

PE Lessons: Badger Class has PE lessons on Monday and Tuesday.  Each child must have a pair of shorts and t-shirt for gymnastics as well as jogging bottoms, a sweatshirt and trainers for games when the weather is colder.  PE kits should be left in school during term time and children will bring their kit home for washing during holidays.

End of the Day: If your child is going to be collected from school by someone other than a parent, please let one of the staff know, either in person, by phoning the office, or by writing us a note. If someone else regularly collects your child, please let us know in writing and we will keep a note of the arrangement.

Classroom Volunteers: We always appreciate extra help in the classroom, whether it is a regular commitment or occasional help when you are able. We particularly require help with changing library books and maths games on a weekly basis.  Occasionally we need volunteers to help on trips, and local visits. If you are interested in helping please let Mrs Saunders know.  All volunteers require a Disclosure and Barring Scheme check.
