Clandon School Learning for life

    Curriculum

“Lessons are lively and engaging and encourage pupils to take part and behave well"

    Ofsted November 2013

We are very proud of our creative curriculum.  Our inspiring themes are based on active involvement and learning is developed from first-hand experience wherever possible.

In maths and science we teach children the key skills and knowledge they will need to solve problems and carry out investigations.  We make use of practical resources to support learning so that children develop a deeper understanding of mathematical and scientific concepts.

We teach the foundation subjects using our local environment whenever possible which provides real world contexts for the learning.

As a church school we pride ourselves on our Christian ethos, strengthened by our close links with our local churches and our high-quality RE teaching.

The Yearly Overview of themes for Key Stage 1 is available below.  For more information on the themes to be covered by each year group, please go to individual class pages and open the topic page.
